Several weeks ago I did a post on Black + White Interiors and the beauty of a crisp and simple palette for the interior. Today, I’m sharing how well a black + white palette transfers to the exterior as well.

The appeal of going with a black + white exterior, is that the focus becomes the architecture and/or the details (i.e. shutters, front door, hardware, plants, etc).

Above, a project I did in Texas. Before, the exterior was a bit busy but by painting the brick and trim white, it calms the eye and allows you to focus on the details.

I love using ottomans every chance I get for both interiors + exteriors — they have great versatility. You can use them as a coffee table, kick back and prop your feet up, or as extra seating.

Have a great Tuesday!

Happy Wednesday! Today, I’m sharing my latest hotel crush — Casa Cook in Rhodes, Greece. A boutique hotel designed by architect Vana Pernari and interior designer Annabell Kutucu. I can’t decide which I’m in love with more — the interior design of Casa Cook or the exterior design. Which is your favorite?

Have a wonderful Wednesday!

Being back in Mexico I’m reminded of my long-time affection for the Equipale chair. It’s funky yet comfortable and when the leather fades a bit — looks incredible. Now, with the Ace Hotel in Downtown Los Angeles giving it so much attention, as well as places like Venice Beach and other cities along the California Coast, it’s had a rebirth and I’ve never seen it look so good! Below, are some gorgeous ideas on how to use this very cozy & versatile chair.

One of my favorite ways to add a little beauty and drama to a home is by using large branches. I’ll clip them from pretty much anything and place them in vases, jars or even my favorite piece of pottery. Not only are they fun but they can last much longer than flowers. Below, are some of my favorite examples.

On my recent trip to Mallorca I noticed a lot of woven influences. I saw tons of gorgeous light fixtures, rugs and baskets. I feel adding some natural fiber accents can work for anyone’s home and love how it can evoke a sense of vacation and relaxed style of living.

One of my favorite items to place in a garden — is the garden table. It can be placed pretty much anywhere — on the patio, courtyard, or a corner in the garden. It’s a great platform to display your favorite plants & garden objects. Below, are some of my favorite ways to use a garden table.

There are really no rules to using a garden table. It can be an elaborate or simple table —  small or large. You can place tons of stuff on it or just a few of your favorite items.

While looking for inspiration to get my day started, I came across some beautiful Interior & Exterior Ideas from Pinterest.

via Leslie Cotter Interiors

Love this gorgeous kitchen from Leslie Cotter Interiors. Although, the overall palette is quite simple she added understated elegance with a gorgeous range hood, pendants, and bar stools.

Great idea for those that have an expansive backyard and can add a stone wall & fireplace like this — not only does this help take up some lawn space but it’s also a beautiful focal point.

via BECKI OWENS

By selecting these amazing dining room chairs and gorgeous light fixture, Becki Owens added so much interest & texture without adding tons of color, love it!

I always love the idea of adding a table outside to display plants and objects.

Happy Tuesday!

I adore designing laundry rooms and it doesn’t matter the size. From small to large, it’s my favorite room to design, apart from the kitchen. Below, is my latest laundry room makeover.

For this one it really was paint that changed everything. I painted the walls and cabinets, added a new countertop and redid the flooring. However, even if your budget doesn’t allow you to change flooring or countertops you can buy a couple of gallons of paint for walls and cabinets and literally transform the look of your space.

My inspiration for this room came from the photograph below. Just love the look and feel of this room. The earthy floors, lantern-style light fixtures and cabinet paint color.

I decided to use the same paint color that I used on the kitchen cabinets (Flintstone by Dunn Edwards), as well as the same Quartz countertop in order to tie it in with the rest of the home. I wanted an earthy floor and since I couldn’t use brick for this project I went with this tile instead. I chose light fixtures from The Home Depot and used antique bronze and brass accents.

All in all a fun project to see completed.

Have a wonderful weekend!
