On my recent trip to Mallorca I noticed a lot of woven influences. I saw tons of gorgeous light fixtures, rugs and baskets. I feel adding some natural fiber accents can work for anyone’s home and love how it can evoke a sense of vacation and relaxed style of living.

Last month I shared the exterior of a project we’ve just finished here in Los Angeles. Today, it’s the before & after photos of the kitchen.

To simplify the kitchen, I did away with the cabinet that enclosed the original fridge, as well as the bread box, which allowed for more counter space. I also removed the trim that ran along the top of the cabinets.

I also wanted to try out a new paint color — Flintstone by Dunn Edwards, which I used on the lower cabinets. I went with a Quartz countertop and brushed nickel faucet fixture. I’m really pleased with how it all turned out.

Sometimes budgets allow you to gut an entire kitchen and other times you have to work with existing cabinets. If you do have to keep your cabinets, paint is your best weapon for change. Next time, some easy pointers on putting together a gallery wall.

Cheers, it’s the weekend!

A neutral yet pretty palette overall but once everything is brought together and you include a brightly colored throw and some greenery, it becomes a beautiful space.

When designing an outdoor space, I always like to include a console table. The console table, on its off time, serves as a place for a lantern, potted plant, and an interesting object or two (as in the photo above). However, when there is entertaining going on, the console becomes the perfect place for food & drink.

A great example of this, is Bunny Williams’ patio area. She has a lovely huge console table that can easily transform into a buffet table when entertaining.

Here, for a friend’s garden, I had a potting table and mirror made for the patio area. When entertaining, the table becomes the perfect place for beverages and food, otherwise, it displays the owner’s fabulous plants and objects.

Breaking it down…

The table you use for you buffet doesn’t necessarily have to be a proper console table, you could use an old picnic table, potting table, small bistro table or even your outdoor coffee table — it all depends on your needs/space.
