COTTAGE LOVE

Currently I’m searching high and low for exterior paint inspiration for a bungalow project that I’m working on and came across this gem. Take a look…

By using dark shingles and painting the porch white it really brings the focus to the porch. The baby blue accent on the shutters adds a touch of softness and color — perfection!

I love how the arches on the porch frame out the light fixtures and hydrangeas perfectly!

Love the hydrangeas in black planters!

SAN GIORGIO, MYKONOS

As a designer I look to a lot of places for inspiration and hotels are a great source. This morning I came across this beauty — San Giorgio on the Greek Island of Mykonos and just had to share.

The interior design is by Annabell Kutucu & Michael Schickinger.

Have a great weekend!!

RESEDA PROJECT

Happy Monday! Today, I’m introducing you to a new project in Reseda; a district in the San Fernando Valley here in Los Angeles. As you can see it’s a perfect candidate for a makeover.

Above, we completely gutted the kitchen so I can now determine the layout. I’m leaning towards eliminating the two smaller windows in the left corner and replacing them with a large window on the back wall to allow for more light and a view of the backyard.

A view from the dining room looking into the kitchen

Same view but now with the wall removed

I can’t wait to get my hands on this project and start to see it take shape. I’ll post more photos on the progress in a couple of weeks!

Have a great day!

Situated high on a cliff with gorgeous views of the sea is the botanical garden, Santa Clotilde. It was designed by Nicolau Rubio i Tuduri in 1919 and was claimed to be the most important private garden of 20th century Spain.

The garden is reminiscent of an Italian Renaissance style with manicured shrubs, statues and beautiful fountains.

It’s a gorgeous garden with Italian cyprus, agaves, cactus, purple & white Agapanthus, ivy, oleander and many more lovely plants.

A POLISHED EXTERIOR

FOR A LITTLE INSPIRATION ON THIS TUESDAY, I’M SHARING THE EXTERIOR OF THIS BEAUTIFUL HOME. LOVE HOW THE EXTERIOR MARRIES MODERN WITH TRADITIONAL — GORGEOUS!

EXTERIOR HARDWARE BY SUN VALLEY BRONZE

THE MIX OF SIDING AND BRICK ADDS GREAT TEXTURE!

BLACK DOWNSPOUTS AND GUTTERS IN ZINC LOOK GREAT WITH THE WOOD SHINGLED ROOF AND WHITE EXTERIOR.

BEAUTIFUL EXTERIOR FRENCH STEEL DOORS BY RIVIERA BRONZE

ARCHITECTURE BY BRANDON ARCHITECTS

BUILT BY PATTERSON CUSTOM HOMES

LOVE THE FONT AND SIMPLICITY OF THE ADDRESS — IT WORKS WITH BOTH MODERN AND TRADITIONAL STYLES.

HAVE A GREAT DAY!

Several weeks ago I did a post on Black + White Interiors and the beauty of a crisp and simple palette for the interior. Today, I’m sharing how well a black + white palette transfers to the exterior as well.

The appeal of going with a black + white exterior, is that the focus becomes the architecture and/or the details (i.e. shutters, front door, hardware, plants, etc).

Above, a project I did in Texas. Before, the exterior was a bit busy but by painting the brick and trim white, it calms the eye and allows you to focus on the details.

Some of my favorites…

Happy Friday!

I love using ottomans every chance I get for both interiors + exteriors — they have great versatility. You can use them as a coffee table, kick back and prop your feet up, or as extra seating.

Have a great Tuesday!

CASA COOK

Happy Wednesday! Today, I’m sharing my latest hotel crush — Casa Cook in Rhodes, Greece. A boutique hotel designed by architect Vana Pernari and interior designer Annabell Kutucu. I can’t decide which I’m in love with more — the interior design of Casa Cook or the exterior design. Which is your favorite?

Have a wonderful Wednesday!

Being back in Mexico I’m reminded of my long-time affection for the Equipale chair. It’s funky yet comfortable and when the leather fades a bit — looks incredible. Now, with the Ace Hotel in Downtown Los Angeles giving it so much attention, as well as places like Venice Beach and other cities along the California Coast, it’s had a rebirth and I’ve never seen it look so good! Below, are some gorgeous ideas on how to use this very cozy & versatile chair.
